Christmas in Texas.

Christmas is in 8 days! Did anyone else freak out a little bit? whether it's because you are excited or haven't even started Christmas shopping yet.. I know a few of those people. I was almost one of those people. I literally finished my shopping today. Shopping is done, next is wrapping. I'm not sure when I will have time for that. I'm currently writing this post at work, or else I'd be wrapping. I only have 3 days left to get it done. Christmas is coming early for my family. Sunday will be Christmas for my husband and I and also my family. My brother and I are both going to be with our in-laws this year for Christmas.

Collin and I get to go to Texas for Christmas this year. We are so excited! My in-laws moved to the Dallas Fort Worth area in June for my Father In Laws job. We haven't seen them since August, so we are thrilled to be spending 10 days with them for the Holidays! To be honest, I am a little nervous. This is the first year I will not be with my family at all for Christmas. I know a lot of married people deal with that every other year, but I haven't had to until this year. I guess it will be good practice for the future! (insert scared face emoji).

It makes me sad that I won't get a White Christmas. But I guess Utah might not have one either. What is going on with this crazy weather? We will probably end up doing the Polar Plunge in the pool on Christmas instead!

I will have to wrap more presents once we get to Texas. Did you know that if you have wrapped presents in your luggage they will open them at the airport!? How rude. I'm glad my mom knew that so I didn't go through all that work just for the airport security guy to open all my in-laws gifts. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't like what I picked out for my little sister in law.

Wish me luck in Texas! I'm sure there will be pictures to follow.

Merry Christmas!!

Black Friday&&Cyber Monday

I haven't really ever been the type of person that gets excited for Black Friday, going out in big crowds to wait in line for hours to get a good deal. It's just not worth it to me. Cyber Monday on the other hand sounds much better. No crowds, no lines, no bra, (did I say that out loud?). Online shopping can be scary sometimes. Unless you do it often and know your size in everything. I've had great luck before and other times not so much. For example, I just bought two new tops from Very Jane and one came in the mail yesterday and it fits perfectly! I was so excited about that. If you haven't shopped from Very Jane yet, you need to. They have deals everyday! It can be dangerous ;)

One Black Friday - Cyber Monday deal that I'm excited about is the one that Younique is doing. It started Thanksgiving day and is going through December 1st. You get a bundle of product with a 40% savings! The bundle includes a facial cleanser (choose between dry or oily skin type), one moonstruck mineral pigment (I have lots of favorites!), 3D Fiber Mascara (my fav! I won't wear anything else), and lastly a 3 piece eye brush set (these have become my favorite brushes ever. I use them everyday). You get all of this for only $75!! It's such an amazing deal. If you've been wanting to try some Younique product, now is your chance! You can get the bundle and keep it for yourself, or split it up for Christmas gifts for the ladies in your life.

I know I will be doing some Cyber Monday shopping. I hope you enjoy some shopping too!

fall food & color.

I LOVE the fall. And the other day I decided that October is my favorite month. Besides July, of course.

So as I've said before, I love anything pumpkin! It's becoming a problem, my husband thinks. My sister in law told me to put a scoop of pumpkin purée in my oatmeal with a little bit of brown sugar. And oh my! It's so yummy! Plus you are sneaking in some veggie goodness. It's my new favorite thing to make for breakfast when I have time.

I'm in charge of bringing a homemade pumpkin desert to family home evening on Sunday and I can't decide what to make. I don't want to do pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, cause that's what everyone makes. I want to try something new! I've been pinteresting for days. (Is that even a word? Well I'm using it anyways.) If you have any brilliant ideas, please share!

I started working at Amara Day Spa & Salon as a stylist. I LOVE it. Lately everyone has been wanting new hair for Fall. Which I love! It's been fun creativity fall looks. I don't always take before and after pictures, and I feel like I need to be better about doing that. I do have a couple I can share with you. Come in and see me at Amara for some fall color!

vivid dreams.

Do you ever dream about hurting your arm somehow and then you wake up and your arm is asleep? This kind of thing happens to me all the time. For example, I have been wearing my retainers at night more cause my teeth are moving.. (Don't tell my mom) and they don't fit very well so my teeth hurt all night. I dreamt that my teeth were falling out and I had a bunch of loose teeth. That's all because my teeth were hurting from my retainers! Does this happen to anyone else?? Cause my husband thinks it's so weird.

I also dream about anything traumatic that has happened to me in the past. Lately my dreams have been about car accidents. And that's happening because of our scary car accident we were in a few weeks ago.

We were on our way down to Lake Powell and Collin had been driving the whole time until we stopped and had lunch about 45 minutes away. After lunch he asked me to drive the rest of the way cause he was tired. We had been driving for about 35 minutes when we crashed. I can't really remember much because I was in shock after the accident. Collin remembers me swerving to miss something in the road and I overcorrected and hit loose gravel and it sent our car into the sand bank and then flipped us over onto the drivers side. I had no idea what happened or what I did. I seriously thought I was dreaming. Our airbags didn't go off! I don't know if it would've made it worse if they had gone off, but with how hard we crashed they should have gone off. Collin unbuckled his seatbelt and landed right on top of me since the car was sideways. He couldn't open his door so he crawled out the back door and flagged some people down. The first car to stop had a nurse in it and the second car had a first responder. Talk about perfect timing. I don't remember this part but I guess the nurse came over and asked me questions, made sure I could wiggle my toes and that I did have a back or neck injury. Then two men held the car still so I could crawl out. I got out of the car and Collin just held me in his arms. I just bawled and kept saying "what did I do to us??" The ambulance came and checked my vitals and they made me go in the ambulance to the clinic at the bullfrog marina which was 10 miles aways. The nurses checked me out and made sure I didn't have any back, neck, or internal injuries. Collin walked away with a scarp on his shin and the whole left side of my body was aching and sore for a few days. We were so blessed and amazed that we were able to walk away from the accident. We definitely had angels watching over us in that moment. Later that night our family that we were in lake Powell with told us that if we had to crash, we picked the best place to do it, because literally 20 yards further and there was a 25ft cliff. That made me so sick to hear them say that. But it also made me realize that much more how aware our Heavenly Father is of our situations and how he is always watching over us and protecting us. I am so glad that we were both okay. I don't think I could live with myself if I had hurt Collin at all. It could've been so much worse.

The thing that has blown my mind is the fact that we drove thousands of miles across the country and back this summer without any car problems or tickets. And then we drive 6 hours to Lake Powell and total our car. What?! So crazy.

Now I wonder why did this have to happen to us? What am I suppose to learn from this? Now we have to figure out how to get a new car and how to pay for a monthly payment. #stressed

We were able to stay in lake Powell and relax and rest for a week. I really didn't even want to get in a car again. I get so anxious and stressed out when I drive now.  We really are so grateful for our safety and for the Lords hand in our life.

is it fall yet?

is it too early for pumpkin treats?! i don't care if it is or not because i have been craving anything pumpkin! the fall is my absolute favorite season. i love fall fashion. boots, scarves, cardigans, layering, sweaters, etc. and of course pumpkin treats! the best is my pumpkin popcorn. i'll have to post about that when i make it. it's a family favorite and i always have friends asking me to make it.

here is a yummy 3 ingredient pumpkin chocolate chip cookie recipe. yes i said THREE. i have tried homemade from scratch pumpkin cookies and these at the same time and i would go for this kind every time. most people know about this recipe, but i still get people wondering how to make them and they don't know about this easy recipe. they are full of flavor and moist. why do people hate the word MOIST so much?? it has never bothered me. i like my cookies and cakes moist. (am i making you cringe by using that word so much?) MOIST. there i go again.

recipe:
1 box spice cake mix (don't add any of the oil, eggs, etc. only the cake mix)
1 small can of pumpkin puree (pictured is a large can, i used half of it)
chocolate chips to your liking

spoon onto a cookie sheet
bake @ 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes depending on how big the cookies
let cool and ENJOY!

what are your favorite pumpkin recipes? please share them with me!

living outside the Utah bubble.

We are officially back from Ohio and will be in Utah while my husband finishes his last year of school. I was super nervous about moving and living outside of Utah. I have traveled a bunch throughout my life, but have never actually lived anywhere but good old Orem, Utah. We were only gone 3 months, but it was so nice to get a taste of what it is like to live outside of the Utah bubble. I absolutely LOVED it!

You could say it was a little bit of a culture shock for me. What I loved the most about living in Ohio was that there is no competition or pressure. You know what I mean about competition. The happy valley, Mormon competition that we all have to deal with here in Utah. Who has the best hair. Who has the best body. The cutest baby bump. The nicest clothes. etc!! Sometimes I even wonder if I can post a picture, because "is it INSTAGRAM WORTHY?!" I seriously have that fear that everyone is judging me and everything I do. There is always so much pressure to be the best. It is NOT like that outside of Utah, and I LOVE it. Nobody cares. And everyone is so nice and supportive of everything you do. Nobody is trying to be better than the next person or trying to one up everything you say or do. It was so refreshing!

I was able to talk to a couple of friends about this while I was gone. One of them was a really good friend that I made while in Ohio and she grew up in Utah. So she knew exactly what it feels like to live in the Utah bubble. We had a long talk about this subject one night and she really opened my eyes. I talked to another friend when we stopped in Texas for a week. Both her and her husband agreed with what I had to say about living outside of Utah. She grew up in California and he grew up in Texas, but they both lived in Utah for quite some time. It is good to know that I am not the only one who feels that way.

Some people grow up in Utah and never leave, which is fine. But if you get the opportunity to live outside of Utah, even if only for a few months, take it! It is so worth it! I think that everyone should experience that at some point in their life.

My husband was offered a full time job with Goodyear, at the end of his internship. We accepted the offer and he will start working for them once he graduates in April. I am so proud of him and all his hard work. This means that we will be moving once he graduates and now I am more excited than ever! I will definitely miss my family and friends in Utah. I will definitely visit often. But I cannot wait to start a new adventure. Don't get me wrong, I love Utah and I sure missed the beautiful mountains and everything that Utah has, but being away from everyone you know brings you so much closer as a couple. We grew together so much this summer because we only had each other to rely on.

We do not know where we will be moving yet. But we do know the potential places. Lawton, Oklahoma. Danville, Virginia. Fayetteville, North Carolina. Topeka, Kansas. Or Buffalo, New York. There are definitely some places I'd rather go than others, but I can't wait to find out where we get to go begin a new adventure!

What do you think about the Utah bubble? Have you experienced anything else?

life update.

if you follow me on instagram (alilynnbush) then you have already seen most of these pictures. i cannot believe that our time here in Ohio is almost over. we are on the tail end of it all. it makes me sad to think about leaving. but then again, i am so excited to be back in Utah with family and friends.

collin and i got called to be assistant nursery leaders. we teach the 3 year olds. they are a crazy bunch! i thought i would be more baby hungry with this calling, but it might actually postpone it.. we love our calling and the little nuggets we get to play with at church.

i heard all about the lightening bugs (fireflies are the same thing by the way. it depends on where out east you live i think) that they have out here and i was so excited when i first saw them! on friday night we decided to catch some and put them in a jar. it was seriously one of the coolest things i've done. i know, i'm a child.

every sunday before the 4th of July the little city we live in puts on a firework show. we were able to be with friends and enjoy a nice evening visiting and watching the fireworks. i love fireworks. whoever came up with that idea is genius.

i decided i am addicted to workout clothes. but that's better than a lot of other things right?? they give me so much motivation! is that dumb? i'm sure i'm not the only one.. i can't talk myself into paying a lot of money for clothes though. everything i bought was on sale! woohoo!!

my in-laws are coming on WEDNESDAY!  i couldn't be more excited!! we are going to travel down to Cincinnati for the 4th of july weekend with them. my husband grew up there and so they have friends to visit and places to see. i cannot wait for an eventful weekend with family! and then a week later i get to go back to Utah to visit my family and friends! these next two weeks are going to be amazing!

enjoy the pictures below. iphone style. cause i don't have a camera that is better than my phone. lame.

ohio homes.

have i told you how beautiful the homes in our neighborhood are? oh my. i get to run by these houses on my morning run. and sometimes my husband and i will go for a walk in the evening and just look at the houses and talk about how we will have a house like these in the future. far future, obviously. i absolutely love the the siding and the window shutters. they almost look like little doll houses. i seriously wouldn't mind moving here one day if i get to live in a house like these. everything is so green here. very different form Utah. i love it.

my husband LOVES this 3 story house. he said he wants to end up in a house like this. fine by me!

marvelous.

You guys! I am hooked on this 3D Fiber Mascara! I had a friend here in Ohio show it to me. I was a little skeptical at first. It seemed kind of strange the way it worked. I gave it a try and I am in love with it! So much so that I am now selling it. Not just the mascara but all of the Younique products. I have only tried a few things. But everything I have tried so far, I love! I am throwing an online party right now. You will have to go check it out. Its going for 9 more days. So hurry on over! The 3D Fiber Mascara gives you the look of falsies without the hassle, expense, or maintenance. I've tried lash extensions before and they just weren't for me. Other people absolutely love them. This mascara is for those of us who didn't do well with extensions or are too nervous to try them. Have fun shopping! https://www.youniqueproducts.com/Alibush/party/243890/view click on the link to learn more and start shopping! The best part is you don't have to get out of your yoga pants or do your hair and make up to shop! yay!

Here are some before and after pictures of my own eyes, so you can see how the product works!

8 week challenge.

remember how my husband and i started doing crossfit? well the crossfit gym that we go to is doing an 8 week nutritional program. its a carb cycling diet that targets body fat loss. we decided to go ahead and do the challenge! we started the food yesterday. its not bad at all for me. i am definitely eating more than when i did my last program. we basically eat protein, veggies, and complex carbs. some days are low carb days and others are high carb days. we eat every 3 hours max. i am really excited to do this! they said the average loss is 4-6%. some people have even lost 8% doing this. we just need to stay motivated and not let anything or anyone tempt us. i am glad we decided to do this program because otherwise we would go out to eat every weekend and get ice cream or treats whenever we felt like it. i feel like i'm on one big vacation this summer so i can eat whatever i want. wrong! so this challenge will definitely help me stay fit and healthy. i will post my before and after pictures on here once the 8 weeks are complete. i am excited to lose body fat and build muscle along the way!

the workout we did yesterday was killer! i literally almost threw up a couple of times. yikes! we had to run 1 mile and then do 100 pull ups, 200 push ups, 300 air squats, and then complete it with another 1 mile run. since i am brand new to crossfit they told me to just do half of the pull ups, push ups, and air squats. i thought i was going to die! hopefully one day i will be able to do the full workout. i am absolutely loving crossfit! i can already see progress and tell a difference in my strength.

wish us luck on this 8 week challenge! we will need it!

this is my sweaty self after my crossfit workout. bleh.

this is the type of food i eat on this challenge. eggs, sweet potato, peppers.

pinterest win! spinach chips. oh and a hard boiled egg.

ground turkey, spinach, and salsa.

zoo animals.

saturdays are my favorite days because i get to spend the whole day with my husband. we made a spontaneous decision when we woke up on saturday to go to the akron zoo. we had a blast! we may have been the only adults there without kids, but that's just fine with us. no shame. this was a bit of a smaller zoo. it didn't have elephants or giraffes or some of those big animals like at the zoo back in utah, but it was fun with the animals it did have.

i took my digital camera with me to take pictures. i got my camera probably 3 or 4 years ago. i used it a lot right when i got it, but haven't used it much since. and now i know why. my iphone 5 can take way better pictures than my camera. (insert sad face here). i'm no photographer, but i would love a nice camera that can take pictures better than my phone. maybe someday. i took a lot of pictures with my camera until i decided to switch to my phone. i just realized that i didn't even bring the cord to hook my camera up to my computer, so you will only get to see pictures by the iphone. they are better quality anyways!

my favorite animal was the sea otters. if someone were to ask me if i could be any animal, what would it be? i would now change my answer to sea otter. i probably stood and watched them swim around for at least 10 minutes. they aren't the cutest looking things, but they are fascinating to watch.

we are having a great time here in ohio, but we are definitely missing our family and friends. well i am. collin doesn't say much about that subject. i miss our families so much. and my best friends. we have become really good friends with a young family in our ward. they are so great! they have 3 little kids that are adorable. they have a little girl who is almost 6 months old. i want to steal her from them! she is the sweetest baby. collin is so dang precious with her. it makes me even more baby hungry than i already am! dangit. it has been fun making new friends that i know we will have forever.

enjoy some of the pictures i took at the zoo with my iphone. other pictures will have to be posted when i get back to utah. so we will see if that ever happens. i hope everyone enjoyed their holiday weekend!

CrossFit Copley.

remember that free nike app that i told you about a while ago? well i tried it for about a week and i loved it! then i hurt my hand pretty badly at work and i couldn't do much for about a week. it was awful. i couldn't even grip my curling iron, so there was no way i could lift weights. that week i just stuck with cardio. once my hand was better i used the app a few more times. i saw improvement, but not as much as if i were to stick with it for the full 4 weeks. now that we are in ohio we decided we needed to join some sort of a gym. there isn't a golds nearby, so we can't go there. we looked into crossfit gyms and that's what we decided to do! we went for our first time yesterday. it's called CrossFit Copley. Copley is the town we live in. we both loved it! i love that i get to workout with my husband now. it is a lot of fun! we will be going to crossfit 3 times a week. i am already sore from yesterdays workout. can't wait to see how tonight goes! have any of you ever done crossfit?? what did you like or not like about it? i'd love some feedback! hopefully i will get super fit and toned over the summer by doing crossfit! can't wait to see results!

.
we even got some sweet wristbands to wear!

from Utah to Ohio.

Well we made it to Ohio. It was a very long trip. About 1,770 miles. At first we were going to plan ou the trip and make hotel reservations and have everything mapped out for us, but then we decided to just be spontaneous! I am glad we did that instead. We just drove until we got tired and then we'd find an exit with hotels and food and we would stop. We only have one night where the first hotel we tried to get a room at was all full. But the second hotel we tried had a room for us. I thought it was way more fun to just be spontaneous and stop and try to find somewhere to stay.

We drove through  Wyoming, which was not so boring just because it was the first state we had to drive through. Oh and we were listening to the Hunger Games series on the iPad. We both loved that! It was fun to listen to the first two books since we had already seen the movies and we were able to picture everything that was happening. I have already read the first two books, but this was Collins first time. We made it to Nebraska the first night. Let me tell you that we will not miss Nebraska at all.  It was a whole bunch of nothing that smelled like cow sh*t! The next day we drove through Iowa and most of Illinois. We stopped just right outside of Chicago so that the next morning we could drive to Chicago and spend a few hours exploring the city. That was a blast! It was both of our first time in Chicago. I think I forgot to mention how many time we had to stop for a potty break for me.. We honestly should've kept a tally. It was that ridiculous. If you know me, you know that my bladder is the size of a peanut! I was driving my husband crazy with the "can we stop I need to pee... again" every hour. oops! Chicago was so much fun! We saw the giant bean and walked down Michigan Avenue. We went to the Willis Tower and ate some delicious Chicago deep dish pizza at Giordano's! Wow! I will never want any other kind of pizza again. It was that good. After a few hours in Chicago we decided to hit the road again. We drove through the tip of Indiana and made it to Ohio that day. We stayed about an hour and a half from Akron since we couldn't move in to the house until Monday afternoon.

We got up Monday and worked out in the hotel gym and then headed out to Akron. We stopped for lunch on the way and then got to the house by 2:00 pm. After we got all unpacked we had to go grocery shopping. $150 later, we were back. bleh!! We had to buy everything since we didn't bring any food with us. That was expensive! Not fun. It was about 8:00 pm when all of our phones started going off and we got a Tornado Warning in our area. It warned us to go take shelter until 8:45 pm. We all headed down to the basement. I was just thinking, "WELCOME TO OHIO"! The warning extended from 8:45 to 9:30 to 9:45 to 10:00. To be honest, I was scared! But we were all safe and the funnel clouds never touched the ground. No damage was done, thankfully. What a first night to remember! When we were safe to return to the upstairs I sat on the bed and watched the storm. I could literally feel the thunder and the rain was coming down so hard! The lightening was unlike anything I had ever seen before. Amazing! I loved the thunder storm. We've had one each night since we've been here. I could get used to that!

Yesterday morning we woke up, updated my resume, applied for jobs and had an interview all in one day! I don't want to take the job, if they offer it to me. I was walking into the interview blind, and it was not what I thought it was going to be. It wouldn't work out for many reasons. But I am still on the job search! I hate that by the way. I haven't had to look for a job for almost two years now. It's not fun at all. Wish me luck!

P.S. we tried to get pictures of each state sign we drove by. There were a few like Iowa and Indiana that were above the freeway so we couldn't stop and take a picture. We did a drive by on Illinois and so its blurry. Collin was supposed to stop and he didn't slow down in time. I haven't let him forget that. It was fun to get out and get some pictures with the sign. Memories we won't ever forget. Sorry for the novel, but I want to remember this time in my life and this is the best way for me to do it. I hope you enjoyed it. Here are some pictures from our road trip.
